Where do I start? This started as a multi-phased (full patio, tree removal, yard extension, pool deck, side patio, front walk, driveway retaining walls, full color led lighting) project which was supposed to take multiple seasons. Due to politics, red tape, and needing a new septic system, I couldn’t move forward with the first phase of the project. Jose was very flexible and we moved other phases around and just kept moving. By the time everything was done, and all the red tape and politics were behind us, Jose had completed the WHOLE THING! His professionalism and his team’s skill and expertise (Pedro is a hardscape GENIUS) brought the whole project together in only one season!
It looks amazing. Every person who comes over, from friends to service people, comment on the yard. It truly feels like a resort at home. If I had a beach I wouldn’t need to leave ever. Jose and team also stand behind their work. There was a small drainage issue in the corner of the patio. Within 1 day Pedro came out assessed the issue and fixed it. It was amazingly fast and now drains perfectly. Every big job like this will have little things that pop up. Every one. How a company addresses these issues is what sets J. Gudiel Landscaping apart.
I am planning on a bit more work in the spring and you can be sure I won’t call anyone except Jose.
Design & Planning:
They helped us finalize the pool location, elevations, and drainage so water moves away from the house and coping. We chose Unilock pavers for the deck, and Jose walked us through patterns, borders, and color blends that would complement our home. Every detail from the soldier border to the coping profile was thought through.
Excavation & Pool Set:
The crew protected the yard, marked utilities, and excavated with precision. The pool was set dead-level, plumbing was pressure tested, and backfill was done with clean stone for stability. Inspections were scheduled on time, and licensed trades were coordinated for electrical and equipment hookups without us having to chase anyone.
Paver Deck & Finishes:
They built a proper base (geotextile where needed, compacted crushed stone in lifts, screeded bedding sand) and installed the Unilock pavers with tight lines and clean cuts. The deck has a perfect pitch for drainage, polymeric sand was compacted in properly, and edge restraints were installed all around. The coping cuts at corners are crisp, and the expansion joints around the pool shell are exactly where they should be. We added low-voltage lights and a small seating area—Jose priced the change order fairly and kept the schedule intact.
Communication & Professionalism:
Daily updates, zero surprises, and a spotless job site at the end of each day. The crew was respectful of our property and our neighbors. Jose did a final walkthrough, gave us a startup maintenance guide, and provided warranty information for both the pool and the pavers.
Results:
The pool looks incredible, and the paver deck is the showpiece of our backyard. It’s solid, drains correctly, and elevates the whole property. We’ve already hosted two gatherings, and everyone compliments the craftsmanship.
