Give Your Child a Healthy Smile for Life
At Oasis Orthodontics, we believe that early evaluation sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy, confident smiles. That’s why we recommend your child’s first orthodontic check-up by the age of 7, as advised by the American Association of Orthodontists.
Why Age 7?
By age 7, your child’s mouth has a mix of baby teeth and permanent teeth, making it the ideal time to detect potential orthodontic issues—before they become bigger problems. Early evaluation doesn’t always mean early treatment. In many cases, we simply monitor growth and development to determine the best time to start treatment, if needed.
Benefits of Early Orthodontic Assessment
Early assessment allows us to:
Identify and guide jaw growth for better facial balance
Create space for crowded or erupting teeth
Lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth
Detect issues with bite alignment, such as crossbites or overbites
Address harmful oral habits like thumb sucking
Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment
In some cases, early intervention is recommended through a Two-Phase Treatment plan:
Phase One (Interceptive Treatment) – Begins at an early age to correct significant developmental issues in jaw structure or bite.
Phase Two – Occurs once most or all permanent teeth have erupted to fine-tune alignment and bite.
This approach allows us to create healthier long-term outcomes and may reduce the need for more invasive procedures later.
Every Child Is Unique
At Oasis Orthodontics, we treat each child as an individual. We never rush into treatment. If early care isn’t needed, we’ll place your child into our complimentary Growth Monitoring Program and keep an eye on their dental development until the time is right.
